As some of my readers may know, I am also the owner of a budding Free Traffic Community called Free Traffic Works. This site is completely dedicated the various methods through which website owners can generate free traffic to their sites. Before it was just one big ad page. People could sign up and have their links shown on that ad page. Now the site is COMPLETELY different.

Now users can actually see the various free traffic services and rate them according to their own personal experience with them. They can also suggest new free traffic generating services for us to rate and to advertise for. On top of that every user can leverage the ENTIRE SITE to display their affiliate links. That’s right, when users advertise their FTW affiliate link, those that surf the site from their links will see that user’s affiliate links for those services. Even if they visit the site and come back to it weeks later, they will still see that user’s affiliate links.

It’s a powerful system with great potential. The best part is, there is MUCH more to come. I also intend to monetize the site so that users can not only use the site to advertise for them, but to also generate them actual affiliate sales to earn them money! And it’s all free, forever, I’ll never charge a dime.

Go on, check it out, it won’t hurt to take a peek. Free Traffic Works and it can work for you.

I just launched a new website called Free Traffic Works. It offers and amazingly simple strategy for building traffic through all completely free services. Also, for every member who joins it gives them their own FREE ad page where they can display their affiliate links to the free services that we sponsor.

I really have big hopes for this site. I know it has great potential as a downline builder and that’s show I’m going to market it. It isn’t receiving much traffic yet, but I expect it to start building up fairly soon. I do want to add more features to it as I go which include but are not limited to:

The ability to submit new free traffic sites for people to advertise.

The ability of members to rank these free services and only display the top ranking services on the ad page.

An online community devoted completely to helping others gain traffic for free.

Add revenue generating affiliate ads that can turn members’ FTW ad pages into sales pages as well.

Add a linkback section that displays links back to members’ sites to help them with search engine ranking.

I think I’m having way too much fun creating new websites. I’m serious, it’s like a sickness. I’ve created 3 new websites in the last 3 months! Hopefully, these sites will keep me too busy to create any more for a while… although there is that one that I have been thinking about starting… a community site for local DFW Art Institute Online students who want to create games in order to include them in their resumes when applying to local game production companies… but I think I’ll put that one off until I’m actually able to create a game worth playing.

Seriously, web authoring is addictive! I guess I just need to work on generating content for these sites for now. I can create new projects later… let these grow a bit.

Alright, we all know that having your own RSS feed is great for building traffic. What could be better than automatically letting your subscribers know that you’ve got something new? But I just found out quite another interesting use for them. They’re great to subscribe to in order to find interesting articles to comment on. These comments, in turn, end up driving traffic back to your site.

I’m sure you all know by now that I am really insistant that commenting creates traffic. It just does. You leave comments on other people’s blog and they (and often their readers) will come and check you out. If you leave something particularly useful/interesting that is. In the mean time, you’re building links back to your site which drastically improves search engine ranking.

I’m currently using Mozilla Firefox, which I adore by the way, and a plugin that scrolls my RSS feeds randomly across the bottom of the browser. This way, I can easily find interesting articles from the… many blogs that I subscribe to. From there I am able to comment the heck out of these very deserving bloggers and… in the process I get links back to my site and possibly get a few people interested in following those links.

Now, that being said, I do not comment simply to get traffic. The real reason is that I’m just bored out of my mind… and it takes up some of my time. I figure, if I’m going to just being blowing my time surfing the net, then I might as well get out there, read some interesting articles, comment on them, and perhaps generate a little bit of traffic for myself while I’m at it.

As has been said before. If you want to be part of the internet community, get out there are participate!

Alright, I’ve already laid out how traffic exchanges can help produce traffic in this article. The main problem with most traffic exchanges is that the traffic is not targeted… or it’s fake. In other words, people click on the links to see your site simply to earn credits. When their time limit is up, they’ll move on and repeat the process so that they can get more traffic. This isn’t really a problem though. You can use banner exchanges and, if you’re blogging, BlogRush to reclaim those untargeted hits and turn them into targeted hits. Now, I get a fair amount of traffic from TrafficSwarm. This traffic is somewhat targeted. If I can manage to grab their attention long enough to keep them looking around then that’s awesome. However, even if they don’t stick around I’ve got both a banner exchange through BannersGoMLM and I’ve got the BlogRush widget. This way, even the untargeted traffic has the potential to earn me some targeted traffic. I call this “reclaiming hits.” It’s a way to transform even the bad traffic into good traffic. Even then, you don’t have to be getting “bad” traffic if you follow the suggestions in this article.

The fun part is, if You’re also advertising your BannersGoMLM and BlogRush affiliate links then you can get people to sign up under you and build up your downline that can bring you even more traffic. In fact, even TrafficSwarm is set up so that you can earn credits from your downline. I know that MLM is considered shady in the eyes of most. It mostly just gets really bad PR. But that’s beside the point. All the free traffic programs I’ve chosen have MLM aspects, but they can all work fairly well without any recruiting. In other words, you can just do what you do and earn some traffic, or you can recruit some more people and earn a bit more.

Essentially what this article is about, is overcoming the shortcomings of traffic exchanges. Using this method in combination with traffic exchanges is very powerful. It’s at least worth a shot. The cool thing about banner exchanges and BlogRush is that they’re essentially “set and forget” traffic builders. You don’t really have to do anything after you’ve installed their scripts.

Hope this helps anyone interested in free traffic,

Another installment in my “free traffic” series, I’m now going to highlight one of my favorites, TrafficSwarm.

TS is a free traffic exchange program. You surf member’s sites and in return an ad for your site is shown to other members. People are encouraged to click on sites that actually interest them because they must wait something like 20 seconds before they can move on to the next page to earn more credits. Because of this, the traffic is totally targeted. If you manage to grab their attention fairly quickly then you may have just snagged you a new reader/subscriber/customer. TS is actually one of the best, if not the best, traffic exchange out there. They’ve got awesome anti-cheating algorithms and even live people monitoring surfing behavior. You are guaranteed that if someone is surfing the network, they are a real person, so no one will waste you hard earned time by gobbling up your credits.

Blogger specific suggestions:
Now, although this works well for certain websites, there are a few things you’ve got to think about when it comes to blogs. The first is that your content will change on a regular basis. Although you do want to advertise your main page with a general ad, you all want to make ads for specific high-traffic posts/pages. The reason is simple, I’ll give you an example:

My genreal homepage ad:
Nathaniel’s Art Gallery Fantasy & Scifi
A collection of my art. I have always believed the nature of inspiration to be infectious. Come, be inspired.

Now, the problem is that this doesn’t cover all my site has to offer, just a small chunk of it. So I also run ads for specif post:
Beware of the Flu Vaccine Scam *
There has been a long, on-going scam dealing with the flu vaccine. Don’t become a victim, you deserve to know the truth
The ADD/ADHD Excuse *
ADD/ADHD are real, but too many are using it as an excuse for bad teaching/parenting/behavior. Here’s what I think. ADD Tips.

The reason I’ve done this is simple, these two topics (flu vaccines and ADD/ADHD) are fairly universal. A great deal of people will want to read them. Do you know anyone who’s ever gotten the flu? Do you know anyone who’s got ADD or ADHD? I advertise these specific articles because they offer up content to the TS surfers that they might be interested in but would otherwise not know existed if they simply saw my main ad.

With this strategy, I spend a couple of minuets when I’m bored surfing my TS homepage and I get several hits to my site. You can’t get much easier than that. Also, TS has no shortage of people trying to get you to sign up for other traffic building programs, some of them are actually quite good. If you find yourself bored and surfing the net often, you might as well get some traffic to your website while you’re at it. If that interests you at all, go check TrafficSwarm out, it’s at least worth a peek.

Alright, so my traffic isn’t that great but I’ve come up with a fairly decent strategy for getting myself more exposure and visitors though the free link exchange program, BlogRush. First, lets go over how BlogRush works:

You show the widget on your site (you can see mine on the right sidebar).

Each time this widget loads, it finds related articles from other BlogRush user’s blogs and displays ads for them.

Each time this widget loads you earn credit so that your ads are shown on other member’s BlogRush widgets.

People can sign up for BlogRush under you and you’ll earn a percentage of their credits.

Now, with all of that it seems fairly simple and straight forward. You just put up the widget and forget it, right? Nope, the widget itself will not be enough to bring you traffic. Personally, I use the following strategies to help increase my traffic through BlogRush:

I advertise my BlogRush referral link. I do this through TrafficSwarm as well as here on my site (this post might actually be one of those advertisements… disguised as helpful information).

I also visit my website on a regular basis to make sure everything is running smothly, I re-read articles every-so-often and check for spelling errors and what not. During these times I will actually click through to interesting links on the BlogRush widget. If the article is particularly interesting, I’ll comment on it. Guess what? That comment has a link back to my blog! Because I know they are somewhat related through content, it increases the chances that people will be interested in what I have to say, and thusly follow that link back to my site. It also increases the number of links back to my site, which increases search engine ranking.

I can’t stress enough how important it is to get out there and really comment on some other people’s blogs. If they comment on yours, be polite and return the favor. Just think, the more links you build that come back to you, the more traffic you’ll get. It’s worth it. BlogRush just makes it easy. I mean, it just shows you the links to related sites right there on your own site. You just can’t beat that.

If you’re a blogger and you haven’t yet added the BlogRush widget to your site, I would STRONGLY suggest that you do so as soon as possible. It has great potential for increasing your traffic. In any case, it can’t hurt. Check it out, I think You’ll like what you see.
