Mage’s Lab

This was my final for Designing Interior Spaces and Worlds. It is the lab of a mage.

Pretty much everything is super-optimized and low poly with very detailed textures. Most of the simple objects are just planes (like the trees and the windows). Everything else is simple geometry. It was a ton of fun. I’m really starting to get the hang of this stuff. I really just can’t wait until I can score a job in the game production industry. I really am itching to create something that I can actually play.

I personally wear the heck out of these T-shirts. I just love the looks I get at the mall when I know my shirt has caught someone’s attention. It’s the simple things that I truly enjoy in life. One of them happens to be offending people with my sense of humor. I’m sure all my avid readers know what I think about people who get offended. So, if you are offended by any of the content of my product designs, I am not sorry, and you should take this opportunity to examine yourself, get to know yourself, and discover why you have such issues. In this way, my products offer… a form of therapy to all who view them.

Nah, I don’t believe that. I just think they’re funny. That being said, if you like my stuff. If you know someone who might like any of it. Why not get some? It’s the holidays anyway. It’s time to splurge! Keep in mind that 100% of the profits from these products go towards helping a needy family. MINE!

Fairy Tale Facts, Magical Adventures Postponed.

I’m finally done with my advanced animation final. It took quite a bit of time and energy but I think I managed to do it fairly well. This is what those pesky fairies get for trying to wake up sleepy children in the middle of the night.

The modeling and animation was all done in 3DS Max and the editing was done in Adobe Aftereffects. Special thanks to my lovely wife for lending her voice to both characters in the scene and sounddogs.com for the royalty free twinkling magic noise in the background.

Halloween 2007: Dark Angels

I have always loved Halloween. My wife and I go all out every year. this year was no exception. We laid down quite a bit of money on our costumes but it paid off. We also managed to get some clothes that we’ll use over and over again.

This is a photo that I’ve manipulated of Mary and I in our Halloween costumes. I just put us in a different background and added a glowing effect so that our dark features could still be readible. We spent a fair amount of money on these costumes. But we love the clothes and are likely to continue to wear them. Mary got most of her outfit at Hot Topic. I was suprised that they actually are one big “goth kit” store. They’re your one-stop-shop intant-goth store. I couldn’t bring myself to purchase anything from them and instead borrowed a shirt from friend and bought a leather overcoat from burlington coat factory.

As for the wings, Mary’s where purchased at Hot topic to save some time and money. Mine are made out of cardboard, 3 wire hangers, almost two rolls of black duct tape, black pantihose, elastic bands, 250 turkey feathers, 20 goose feathers, and three sets of rooster hackle (all purchsed here).

Fairy: Sitting, Standing, Takeoff

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

This is just a rigging test of a fairy I’m going to be animating. There are some issues with the way her butt behaves but since you can’t see it when the issues occur, it doesn’t really matter. It was also an assignment for my Advanced Animation class. The subject simply had to sit, come to a rest, then stand and come to a rest. I decided to add a bit of a lift off as well since I would have to be doing this for my final project anyway. I thought my fellow fantasy nuts out there might get a kick out of it. So here it is. I’ll definitely post the final project when it’s done. It should be rather humorous… but I won’t spoil it.

Body Artwork: Machine Within

I’m not sure how much art I’ll be posting in this category but for now there are three images of the same piece. Drawn on my own arm, Machine Within is merely the result of my boredom, several pens, and nothing to draw on but my non-dominant hand

Greedy Ferret

A little 2D animation that I did a while back. It’s really jumpy and could use some more inbetweens but I think it’s half decent. That and the tree in the background looks like it’s disintegrating.

This is what you get for taunting the little guys. I would imagine the ferret runs off with that wallet and heads straight for the closest vending machine.

I figured some people might get a kick out of this, especially ferret owners.

Air: A Geo Tale

Here’s a little narrative animatic I did a while back. I just figured out how to show video from youtube on this thing so I figured I would give it a shot. The events in the video are based on a true story. Of course, it has been modified to fit my sense of humor.

On a side note, this little car is awesome! I paid $685 tax/title/everything. The air conditioning still doesn’t work quite right but I get by. It has ghosts in the electrical system and a few other minor quirks… but I can live with it. Especially considering the benifits:

  1. The car is mine, I own it, I do not make payments on it. Owning your own car is pretty awesome.
  2. The crazy little thing gets 58 MILES TO THE GALLON! Yeah, that’s right, I made it from Lubbock Tx to Tuscon AZ on one tank of gas (8 gallons). Not even the hybrids can beat that… and certainly not for $685! The downside is that it gets no horse power from it’s three banger engine. Oh well, it gets me to work anyway.

I love that car. My wife hates it though… after I moved and she had to spend almost a whole 24 hours in that tin death trap. She was even reluctant to take the reference photos for “AIR” because of the trauma of that trip.

Well, I hope everyone else’s car works at least as good as mine. Just be glad if you’ve got good air.

New Art 092207

Added two new images today, I’m really on a roll. I haven’t created this much in a long time. In any case, the first image (Twins of Chimeric Fire) was actually developed for this website. The second one (We’re all Pink on the Inside) was developed specifically as a t-shirt design… and yes, they are both available as t-shirts at http://www.cafepress.com/chimericfire

I am particularly fond of “We’re all Pink on the Inside.” because it’s a direct stab (pun intended) at the Gothic subculture. I actually consider myself quite Gothic, but not because I wear all black and heavy eyeshadow. I am Gothic because of my morbid sense of humor… as evidenced by that particular piece. I have never been too fond of the elaborate makeup that some Goths wear. Although I think it’s totally HOT! I also think that it’s vain and pointless… although I think the hotness might be some sort of use. I suppose I’m just against it because I’m too lazy to put forth that much effort into my appearance. In which case, I have no room to talk.

Hope you like ‘em.
