 Vine Bowl
I am particularly proud of this piece. It's made with a combination of coil and slab techniques. It was actually created inside a bowl with canvas laid down inside to keep it from sticking. Once the main structure dried enough to be removed, I added further layers of coil vines. It was extremely fragile up until it was fired. My art teacher wouldn't touch it at all until it had been fired actually. She didn't trust anyone but me, who alone knew its shape and structure well enough, to move it. At first the color came out just plain ugly so I added some more glaze over it and hoped for the best. The next time I saw it was at the art showing for the school. I was so impressed by how it came out, and proud to show my parents that I didn't even notice the ribbon inside it. 1st place, combination clay. Previous Image : Image 1 : Next Image |
